Frequently Asked Spa Questions

Does a facial hurt?
No! Facials are meant to be one part corrective, one part relaxing! Our esthetician will examine your skin and determine which facial is the right fit for you. Whether you're combating acne or trying to keep wrinkles at bay, we've got the right treatment for you! In fact, 35 minutes of the hour facial is concentrated just on the face, including a deep cleanse, toning, exfoliation, light to heavy extractions, facial massage and customized mask. The other half of the hour is spent massaging your scalp, neck, shoulders, hands, and a warm towel treatment on your feet! Facials start at $75 and can relax you and leave you with a glow!

Should I get a chemical peel? Will there be downtime?
Chemical peels are best for those who actively seek a change in their skin. If you have acne, acne scarring, hyperpigmentation (dark sun spots), fine lines and wrinkles, then a series of chemical peels can do wonders by helping to smooth & even out the skin's surface. Typically there is no downtime, but there may be some slight redness and/or peeling. We would recommend doing this a week or two before a big event to ensure time to heal.

What is paraffin?

Paraffin wax treatments are intended to moisturize and soften the skin. It is great for dry, cracked heels on your feet, helping to seal in moisture, soften the skin and also warm your feet.

I don't have any aches or pains, why should I get a massage?
While massage is great for relieving aches and pains, it is more importantly used help relax and decrease stress & tension and increase circulation and detoxification.

I have acne prone skin and acne medication doesn't work what should I do? Actually most people with acne conditions actually have normal skin. The acne is cause by stess or by overworking the skin. If you have stress putting a pound of acne cream on your face will not solve the problem, destress with a massage or a facials with high frquency treatment. If your overworking your skin doing things such as using an exfoliant everyday like benzoyl peroixide (in most acne medications) or picking at your skin doing manual extractions...just stop. Your actually making your situation worse. Your over stripping the oils from your skin and you skin is over producing oils to keep up. Leave your skin alone for a week and then schedule a visit to get a consultation and a facial and set-up a results driven skin care plan.
Why is waxing better than shaving? With shaving you are cutting off the hair at the thickest part which causes the hair to grow in thick and fast. With waxing you are removing the hair and the root so you hair will grow back in slower and finer.

How long should my hair be before waxing?
Hair should be between a 1/4 to 1/2 inch in length, or if you can grab the hair with the tips of your fingers it can be waxed. Hair longer than this may need to be trimmed prior to your appointment.
